The unexpected moment took place at Diamond Head Campground in Crowdy Bay National Park, NSW, where nearby deforestation has driven koalas into human-occupied areas. A man documenting his outdoor adventure captured the encounter on camera — the koala climbed onto his sleeping bag and remained there until morning.
Rangers later explained that when koalas lose their habitat, they sometimes approach humans for warmth and security.
